Santiniketan has always played the role of a ‘nurturer’. It is the space that allows dialogues – one form engages with other forms. The philosophical understanding of Santiniketan has always been plural in nature. It is varied and layered. Krittika Arts Space is created to cater to that conversational process, nourished by Santiniketan. This art space envisions walking in the footsteps of Tagore, devoting them full-time to promoting a national form of art to revive folk, literature, and other components of India, such as traditional textile techniques at Santiniketan. Renowned artists from various components of the country play an integral role in the functioning of this space. Krittika Arts Space plays a very paramount role in inspiring artists. This space consists of an exhibition hall, art residency, and textile studio. This space additionally provides an open-air stage for various performing arts such as dance, drama, and music for the upliftment of the incipient generation. This art space in Santiniketan functions in the preservation of traditional designs and also emboldens puerile artists to learn modern art and design.
