Biography
S. K. Sahajahan is a contemporary Indian artist and Assistant Professor of Painting at the Department of Kala Bhavana, Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan. He graduated with First Class Diplomas in Fine Arts (Painting) and Advanced Fine Arts (Painting) from Visva-Bharati in 1997 and 1999, respectively.
Sahajahan has held several solo exhibitions, including recent showcases at Zeoline Art Gallery, Kolkata (2024), the Harrington Street Arts Centre and The Seagull Foundation for the Arts (2019), Bihar Museum, Patna (2019), and Rasaja Foundation, New Delhi (2016). Earlier notable solos include *Self and Multiples* at Bengal Gallery of Fine Art, Dhaka (2011), and *Walking the Tight Rope* at Akar Prakar, Kolkata (2005).
Since 1995, he has actively participated in numerous national and international group exhibitions, including *A Season of Conviviality* at Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi (2022), *Graphic Culture* (2016, Vadodara), and the *DAEGU-INDIA International Exchange Exhibition* in South Korea (2015). His work has also been featured in exhibitions in New York, Nepal, and Bangladesh.
Sahajahan has taken part in many workshops across India and received several recognitions, such as the Elizabeth Green Shield Foundation grant (Canada, 2002), the Avantika Award (1998), and multiple scholarships during his student years. His work has been included in major auctions by Christie’s and Emami Chisel Art.
He has been featured in documentary films including *Pop Art in Kolkata* (Swiss National Television, 2015) and *The Art of Santiniketan* (Epic Channel). Sahajahan lives and works in Santiniketan.
